When it comes to school there is one thing many of them have in common and that is their need for fundraising. They may fundraise so that they can have things done in school or purchase equipment, or they may fundraise for charities. Whatever the reason, I can imagine you feel like you are always putting your hand in your pocket. Fundraising is an essential part of the school, however, you may find that it is the same ideas over and over again. So here are some of the fundraising ideas for your school that you may want to suggest.
School discos
One of the best ways to fundraise in school is to host school discos. You may find that your school is a little hesitant to ask staff to work extra hours, but if you have a good PTA or a group of parents willing to help, then this can be a great earner. You can have school discos for many different reasons. Halloween and Christmas are two of the most popular times to do it.
Sponsored events
Sponsored events are another great way to get children to raise money and take part in an activity together as part of the school community. The idea is that they take home a sponsor sheet where friends and family can sponsor them an amount for completing the task. Here are a couple of ideas for sponsored events:

Talent shows
If you want to get the kids involved then a talent show is a lovely way to showcase the fun they can have in school as well as a great way to raise some money. You can raise the money simply by selling tickets to family and friends to watch the talent show, or if you want to suggest it remains a school event then maybe the kids can donate something to be part of it.
Bake sales
Bake sales are always a popular way to raise money. You can accept donations that are either homemade or store-bought and then the school can sell them to raise some funds. They could sell them in school or hold a bake sale at the end of the school day where parents can buy some as well.
Toy drive
If you want something that is a little different then a toy drive can be a great option. Students can donate toys they no longer want or need and then they can be sold within the school community to raise funds. They are sold at a cheaper price and it means everyone is happy. You could also do this as part of our next suggestion.
Summer or Christmas fairs
If you want to suggest something that the parents will equally love then a summer or Christmas fair can be a great option. You can do a variety of stalls including lucky dips for kids and bottle tombolas for the parents. As well as having stalls where local businesses can set up and sell and will either pay a donation to have the stall or a percentage of their profits to help the fundraising effort. These can be as small or as big as you want them to be.
Raffles
If you want to suggest something small and very manageable then a raffle can be a great option. You can choose to have parents donate things for a raffle or buy something to then sell tickets. Children can sell them to family and friends. A raffle works well on its own or as part of another event.
Coffee mornings
Coffee mornings are a lovely way to raise some funds and it can get parents, grandparents and carers involved. They can pay a small fee or just pay for coffee and cake. You can then add other fundraising efforts within it or just hold it regularly.
Non-uniform days
This is one of the most common ways for a school to raise funds and is so simple. You can either leave it as non-uniform or ask children to dress up in themes like colours or a pyjama day. They can then pay a small amount to be non-uniform. Across the whole school, this is an easy way to make some extra cash.
Guess the number game
Another simple option is to get a jar and fill it with sweets or something small like jelly beans and then get people to guess the amount. The person closest or who gets it right wins the jar. They can pay for every guess they make.
