Turning Off Water While Brushing Your Teeth
It's a waste of water to stand there while you brush your teeth and let the water just flow down the drain. If you need to rinse, close the tap immediately after brushing. When you wish to reopen it, turn it back on again.
Take Shorter Showers
While we all know that a typical shower is eight to ten minutes, how many of us stay in the shower during the whole time? You can hop back in after you wash up by getting out, rinsing off, and then hopping back in.
Catch water for plants while it heats up
You can catch the cold water while waiting for your hot water to reach its normal temperature. Cold water can be used for houseplants, or wherever else you need it.
Catch Rain Water for Watering Plants
Rain runoff will eventually end up as wasted water if you don't intercept it from your gutters. Catching it will help you conserve water and live more sustainably. When it rains, make sure to put a container in your gutter to collect the water. Using this will not require you to use clean drinking water for watering plants.

Take Showers instead of Baths
Although you wouldn't believe it, a shower can actually use less water than a bath. Filling up the bathtub takes more water than you actually need. Try taking showers instead of baths.
Turn Off Water While Soaping Up
Keeping showers short can help you conserve water and live more sustainably. During a shower, you can also save water by turning off the tap while you are soaping up and turning it back on again when you need to rinse.
Plant More Edibles and Less Grass
Having a large lawn consumes a lot of water, so try to grow edible plants in your yard as much as possible if your town or community association does not prohibit it. Easy-to-grow fruits, vegetables, and herbs are all great ways to feed your family.
Mulch Plants Properly to Retain Water
By using natural mulch instead of synthetic mulch, you'll be able to conserve water as it helps retain moisture in the soil for your plants. If you have applied the mulch, be sure you water it thoroughly before planting your plant.
Turning off Your Water While You're on Vacation
When you know that no one at home will be at home for a few days or weeks, you can save some water by turning off the tap. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 60% of water waste comes from household hoses.
Prune Plants Well
How do you grow plants? Plants should be pruned and any unwanted parts should be discarded in order to conserve water. The reason for this is that you are not wasting water on plants that you do not want or that are nearing their death.
Fill the Dishwasher All the Way before Running
Running the dishwasher only when it is full is the best method of washing dishes. By running the dishwasher only when it is full, you are conserving water.
Fill the Washer All the Way before Running
Wait until you have a full load before washing your clothes in order to minimize the amount of water wasted and to save on your utility bills.
Use Leftover Cooking Water
Whether you're making pasta or steaming vegetables, you can reuse the water used to cook it in soup. Alternatively, you can allow the water to cool and use it in the garden for your plants.
Fix Leaky Faucets Immediately
Is your faucet leaking? Don't hesitate to contact a plumber today! A dripping faucet can waste gallons of water in a matter of minutes.

Measure Sprinkler Output
The amount of water each plant requires may be difficult to accurately measure when you have several types of plants in your home. You may also waste water if you have several types of plants. Prepare a plan on how you will figure out how much water should be provided once the hose or watering can has been turned off so you don't damage plants accidentally.
Making the most of your water
There's nothing wrong with having fun while conserving water! You can conserve resources and leave enough for future generations by thinking of ways you can clean your car and do laundry.
