9 Laundry Hacks And Tips

23 May 2022 by mylifeyourway Leave a Comment

The laundry. It often seems that those laundry baskets are never empty, am I right? Or we think we are getting close to an empty basket and then another load of laundry appears out of nowhere. It is every adult’s nightmare. But, not only do you have to deal with the endless cycles, but you also have to deal with stains, separating whites from colours, and let’s not even start on the risk of shrinking items. However, don’t despair! I have the laundry hacks that will help you make light work of this household task. You’re welcome.

A person expertly balances a stack of folded knitted blankets in beige, pink, and black hues, showcasing seamless laundry hacks for organizing cozy essentials.

Chalk can treat grease stains

Keep chalk close at hand, especially in the kitchen where you are likely to accumulate grease stains on your clothes. If you happen to spot a grease stain, rub some chalk over it. aThe chalk absorbs some of the grease and will help you until you are able to put the clothing item in the wash. Absorbing the grease gives you a fighting chance of getting rid of the stain once and for all.

A clean towel in the dryer can speed up the process

Popping a dry clean towel into the tumble dryer with your clothes will help them to dry faster. This is because the dry towel absorbs some of the moisture and allows the tumble dryer to work faster.

Ice in your dryer is the new ironing

If you don’t like ironing then this hack is for you. Pop some ice cubes into your dryer with clothes that are wrinkly. Steam is generated from the ice cubes and will iron out some of the major creases in your clothes. Make sure you put it on the highest heat setting and avoid doing this with materials that could shrink.

Shaving foam is a great stain remover

Shaving foam has some of the active ingredients that you find in soaps and can work well as a stain remover because of its foamy texture. A great tip is to rub some shaving foam into the stain, leave it to work its magic, and then blot it out.

Make use of condenser dryer water

If you have a condenser tumble dryer and are looking to reduce your waste, then you may be pleased to find out that there are some great things you can do with the water your tumble dryer collects. You could choose to water plants, mop the floor and even clean the carpets with it. This is clean water as it is removed from your clean freshly washed clothes, so it can be a great way to make use of it, rather than tip it away.

Use vodka as a deodoriser

You might associate vodka with drinking and having a good time, but vodka can actually be one of the best laundry hacks. Vodka is a natural deodoriser. Keeping a spray bottle of cheap vodka on hand and spraying it directly onto your clothes will help you to get another wear out of an item of clothing without having to wash it. If the clothes aren’t dirty, don’t waste energy washing them and give this hack a go instead. You can also buy fabric fresheners that have a scent if you wanted to, but in the long term, vodka can work out a cheaper alternative.

Use a laundry folder

Have you seen the latest trend on social media? A laundry folder that helps you to fold your clothes nicely every time and at a rapid rate as well. You lay the item of clothing flat, and then use the different sides to fold the clothing to get a nice neal pile, ready for you to put away. This is also a great way to help children learn about folding clothes and taking responsibility for putting some of their things away.

Never lose socks again

Do you lose socks? I think we can all agree that there is some magical land somewhere where all the missing socks go. So to avoid this from happening in the future, then use a mesh bag for all of your socks. This keeps them together and helps you to match them back up when they dry. You could also use mesh bags for more delicate items as well.

Make your own large lint roller

Finally, if you have lost your lint roller or a large area needs de-linting, then you can create your own with a paint roller and duct tape. It is a quick and cheap way to get the job done.

Let’s hope these laundry hacks help you. If you found this post useful share it with your friends and Pin it for later...
