Summer is approaching, and while you might associate cleaning with the spring and getting all of those done, summer can also be when you want your home to look and feel its best. After all, you are more likely to invite people around and socialise. Many of us don’t enjoy the task of cleaning. It can be arduous and never-ending, that is for sure. But summer gives you the chance to tackle those jobs that have been lingering in the background for some time. The jobs you put off but know will make a difference once they are done. So without further ado, this is your summer cleaning checklist.
Clean the BBQ
One of the first things you might want to focus your attention on is the BBQ. The summer is prime season for a BBQ where you can enjoy the garden, alfresco dining, and spending time with the family or your friends. However, the grill may have had no attention for the past few months, so giving it a deep clean so that you can enjoy some cooking outside at a moment’s notice is high on the agenda when it comes to your summer clean checklist.
Your wardrobes
Another thing you might want to consider doing would be to look at your wardrobes. Summer is a time when you switch your clothing from winter knits to cooler clothing items, but it is also a great opportunity to give your wardrobe a deep clean. Dust can gather in your wardrobe, and it can also be a place to harbour moisture. Give it a clean, and then add some scent fresheners in their or humidity catchers so that you can keep your clothes looking their best.
Clean your washing machine and dishwasher
We often forget to clean the things that clean for us, so use this time to give your washing machine and your dishwasher a deep clean. You can buy special deep cleaners that do all the hard work for you internally, then just give everything a good wipe down. With your washing machine make sure you empty the filter and pull out the detergent drawer.
Wash things that have been stored for some time
You may now have a need for swimwear and beach towels, but these will have likely been stored away for some time. Get them out and put them through a wash cycle. You will be happy with the forward-thinking knowing everything is there, fresh, and ready to go.
Declutter your kid’s toys
We should try and declutter kid’s toys periodically, and the summer is a great time to consider what sort of toys your children might be playing with moving forward. You can get rid of any toys that are broken or are no longer being played with. Focusing on donating any to charity shops or even selling some online to help you boost your monthly income.
Clean up the patio and decked areas
You will likely be spending a lot of time outside, so you may want to focus some attention on your decked or patio areas. Getting the jet wash out and cleaning them can be a great way to bring those areas back to life. You could also look to add some cleaning solution to them and give them a scrub.
Clear out the shed and give it a clean
It might be that you haven’t stepped foot in your shed for some time, so now is the time to give it a clear-out and clean. This will also help you to organise the shed, so you can access the things you are going to need for the next few months. Such as seating cushions or garden tools.
Give the windows a clean
Windows can often be neglected if you don’t have a regular window cleaner, so it might be a good idea to give them a wipe now the summer is here. You will start to notice them looking dirty a lot more when the sun starts shining through them.
Focus on the fridge and freezers
Finally, the fridge and freezers can be packed during the winter months as we like to stock up on comfort food, but now the summer is fast approaching give them a good sort out. Organise your fridge once it has been deep cleaned so that you can enjoy salads and vegetables. If there is anything older than six months in your freezer now would be the time t get rid of it. Keep an inventory of what you have in there so you will start to use it up.
Hopefully, this will motivate you to put a summer cleaning checklist together and get your home and garden ready for summer. If you found this post useful, share it with your friends and Pin it for later...
