Plans For Summer On A Budget

29 June 2022 by mylifeyourway Leave a Comment

Summer is such a lovely time of the year to spend with your family, and with children having their extended break away from school, it can be the perfect opportunity to do different things. However, the truth is, not all of us can be forking out for elaborate trips out and expensive holidays. So how can you ensure you still enjoy this time? I wanted to share with you some of the inexpensive ways to enjoy Summer and how you can still make plans for summer on a budget.

Fruit and vegetable picking

Summer is often the time of year when many fruits and vegetables are in season so why not embrace that and go to your local pick your own location? There is usually only a very small fee to enter, and some locations will only charge you for what you pick. It is a great way to spend some time outside, doing something a little different and bringing back something that justifies what you have spent.

Enjoy a picnic

There is something quite timeless and fun about going for a picnic. It is a great way to spend time with the family and your friends and doesn’t cost too much. You can prepare the picnic at home using things you already had in, pack it up and head somewhere a little different to enjoy your food and drinks. The local park, a local beauty spot, or even taking a picnic and exploring somewhere new.

Spend time in the garden

Your garden is a great place to enjoy the summer and is very inexpensive to do so. You could invest in a few garden games and a BBQ but other than that the garden is a great outdoor space for you and your children to have fun or simply relax when it is good weather.

Go on a bike ride

If you and your kids are a little more active then you may want to do something a little different. A bike ride is a great way to combine some exercise while doing something that the ids will describe as fun. You could stay local and explore the area you live in, or if you have the right equipment, take your bikes with you and explore a new location. Many people have bikes so it is just a case of utilising what you already have.

Enjoy a walk somewhere new

If you don’t have a bike or fancy something a little slower paced then why not enjoy a walk somewhere new? We all enjoyed that daily walk we added to our routine during the lockdowns so why not bring a little bit of that back to your summer routine? You could explore locally or jump in the car and head somewhere different.

Visit a National Trust property

National Trust properties are a great idea for the summer months and heading to their website will showcase what you have locally or within easy access. Some of the require you to buy tickets, but a lot of the national trust parks can grant you access to the outside areas simply by purchasing a car park ticket. Making it a fun place to explore without costing you a fortune.

Camp in your garden

If you have camping equipment or even just a tent then why not set it up in the garden and camp there one summer’s night? The kids will think this is a great adventure and it can be a lot of fun. It is also a great idea if you do want to try camping and want a test run of putting the tent up and setting things out.

Head to the beach

A trip to the beach is a great way to enjoy a summer’s day. You can pack up the car with a picnic and all you need for the day and enjoy something that is very inexpensive to do. If you live close to the beach you could also consider taking public transport instead of using the car.

Go on a budget-friendly camping trip

Camping is one of the most budget-friendly ways to enjoy a holiday. Many camping sites have low-cost pitches and if you don’t want to pay for all of the extras then you could enjoy a family break away without it costing too much.

Invite friends and family over for a BBQ

Finally, if you have a BBQ then why not invite friends and family over for a BBQ? You could also help spread the cost by asking people to bring a dish to eat or to contribute to the BBQ in some way such as drinks, snacks or dessert.

Hopefully, this has given you plenty of inspiration for some of the inexpensive ways to enjoy the summer and will help you with your plans for summer on a budget. If you found this post useful, share it with your friends and Pin it for later...
